You have really got to give BTBAM a chance. I didnt like them at first either, but as soon as I started to comprehend how musically intense, but yet perfectly together they are, I loved them. True, The Sword is a good band, but put them up against the musicianship of Between the Buried and Me, and there is no competition. Absolutely none. By the way, their album Alaska came out in 2006. Their newest album is called Colors. Buy it. You will not regret it.

I think The Sword is just good, harmonizing music. BTBAM is...well...there are super good, and their guitarist is sick, but the vox are annoying, and so much double bass. The only band like that i can stand is Despised Icon. There new album alaska is really creative, but i dont think they as pleasing to listen to as The Sword IMHO.

People who talk crap on this band are typical people who fellow a certain sound. These guys are the new Sabbath, but they are also playing a sound a lot of people aren't. A lot of the new metal coming out these days is so typical because it's the "cool" thing to do. Sorry that these guys don't have crazy double kick drum break downs, and don't wear eyeliner. STFU and take your girlfriend's pants off and listen to real shit. Posers.

I can understand everyones skepticism about this band. I love The Sword, but I dont take these guys seriously at all. They are purely fun to listen to, and thats all that matters. When I'm looking for something progressive and mind blowing, I look to Between the Buried and Me, Dream Theater, Symphony X, bands along those lines. When I'm not looking for something intricate and want to listen to something simple, fun, and fucking gritty, I reach to The Sword.

I couldn't agree with you more. When your vocals are so bad that the guy is only singing 30 seconds on like every one of their songs you might need to find a new singer.
