The newsreporter can probably see the projected result on a screen off-camera. However, the red reference point could be used to have him assume where the "hologram" would have been. It's easy with todays software and technology to give the impression of such amazing concepts as holographic projections. Of course, it is just augmented there, and I stay with my point until I witness an eyes-first glimpse of such a hologram in action. You can play around with anything in media. Look at Star Wars.

Oh wow. They use the same effects found in starwars :) I didn't think THAT was possible :P Sarcasm away, people who can't make up their mind about this being "real" holograms or not should do a youtube search for "augmented reality". It's really cool stuff and there are games being made utilizing these techniques using a regular webcam. Awesome stuff.

Here's a thought. Just a thought. If they want to test project bluebeam holograms on network tv. First they do so and say its real, then they come back and say it was all a hoax. That way the public beleives that they don't have hologram technology.
