Hi. There is friction on reentry. It helps slow down IOT land. It just isn't going fast enough to create the tremendous heat of spacecraft returning from orbit.

I must laugh at this... Unless they finally perfected the lifting body this can't be done... And on those tiny main landing gear and that rate of decent the gear would snap... This plane scares me more than it puts me in aw.

due to the special wing design, it can re-enter without needing heat shielding (that's why the wings move forward. its called a "shuttlecock" design.)

That's a really good animation, but why the shuttle dosent glow, while it is in the atmosphere?
