He was talking about appreciating the artist's work for it's intrinsic merits, and not letting the behaviour of the artist impede the impression the work itself has on you. I've only seen Modest Mouse live in the older shows and I must say, they were fucking awesome. I haven't bother with their latest shows because all the ticket costs are like waaaay out of my price range. Hearing other people saying that they suck live now... is quite shitty.

My kind of an awesome show is one where you actual feel like your seeing someone live, not just listening to someone do karaoke. Yes, I know they were doing it live, but it seemed more like I was listening to the cd while watching some guys stand awkwardly on stage. There was almost no (and I mean NO) crowd interaction. And I'm just going to ignore the stupid comment.

I've never heard anyone else make comparisons of MM and XTC, but yeah. not that MM is an XTC ripoff or anything. but there are similarities. especially this song.
