Incubus is one of the few main stream bands I actually like. I remember seeing them live back in high school... AWESOME show.

Therefore, the connotation of "acoustic" as applies to rock is that no electronic EFFECTS are used, and only the pure, clean sound of vibrating strings is amplified (to match the volumes of the various instruments). Language evolves, words can have more than one meaning depending on context. Think outside the box before you start judging everyone as brain dead because you think words can only have one meaning.
