Heroes of Chernobyl
This is the first video I have made. I took several videos and pictures and put them together with a song by 30 Seconds to Mars. The Windows Movie Maker started acting up on me so I wasn't able to fine tune the last parts of the video quite the way I wanted, but I was still pleased with the outcome. Comments welcome!

Scaring. I watched today a documentary about Chernobyl, and found that all helicopters pilots, who worked trowing lead and sand to try reduce radiation, died short time after that. The pilots worked before the liquidators.

yes that is true, but i had no video footage of them in action. i had a limited bit of footage to use in this unfortunately. i wish i had more.

But I heard many ones get severe radiation poison. I also heard the firemans, who first fase the disaster, had no kind of protection and wasn't even aware of the danger, and was the first to die with radiation poisoning.

the debris was so highly contaminated they had to work in shifts. they wore lead body suits and went in small teams 1 team at a time onto the roof. the radiation was so extreme that 1 team was only allowed to work for a matter of 1 minute or so. sometimes less. it was enough time for 1-3 shovel fulls in most cases.

they are on the roof that overlooks the roof of the reactor building. when the explosion went off, parts of the reactor core including control rods, nuclear fuel, and other highly contaminated particles flew up on the roof and around the reactor. in order to build the containment building they tried to remove as much contamination as possible to keep the workers as safe as possible during the construction. so they sent in teams of "biorobots" to remove the deadly debris. many died.
